We developed Rally Debates as a real-time video debate platform that enables structured and interactive discussions between verified users. The platform restricts access through Twitter-based authentication and a whitelist system, ensuring only approved participants can join debates. Users can create, manage, and participate in debates with features like invitations, notifications, and scheduling. We implemented a dynamic debate flow with timed phases such as introductions, arguments, and open discussion, ensuring fair participation and controlled interaction. Real-time video communication is powered by Agora, providing seamless audio/video and screen-sharing capabilities. The system also supports public debate links, allowing audiences to watch and receive reminders via email. An admin panel enables full control over users, debates, and whitelist management, ensuring platform governance. Overall, our solution focuses on structured debate experiences, real-time engagement, and controlled access for quality discussions.
